Our Clipping & Shaving Policy

We want your pet’s time with us to be as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.

It is important to understand that all pets respond to grooming differently. We will make every effort to make it a positive experience.

We work on a two people to one dog ratio which means they are never left alone and receive twice as many tickles and treats.

Sometimes pre-existing conditions arise unforeseen by us, such as skin allergies, shampoo allergies, moles, clipper sensitivity, fleas, behavioural issues, etc.

It is helpful that you, as the pet owner, inform us of everything that you are aware of prior to grooming including if a bitch is in season.

Matted coats and excessive undercoats cause a variety of health problems for your pet. Matted fur does not allow air circulation to the skin, causing bacterial and fungal infections.Fleas, ticks and other parasites may be lurking in the coat causing further skin infections.

Matted fur also pulls and binds, causing pain to your pet when they move or lay on the mats. The skin underneath can be raw and inflamed.

We will never unnecessarily shave a dog but we will not attempt to brush out severely matted coats because of the stress and pain it will undoubtedly cause your pet. Shaving in these cases is far better for the dog and the coat will grow back. There is a chance that your dog’s skin will become more irritated during this process. He/She may be nicked because we have to work so closely to the skin to remove the coat. We are very careful, but the possibility of injury is there, and you need to be aware of this.

We will always ask your permission to proceed.

We will be happy to show you how to take care of your pet’s coat for the future.
